CAPITAL REGION URBAN TRANSPORT

Housing & Urban Development (H & UD) Department, Government of Odisha has created a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that is Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) for providing Public Transport Services in master plan areas of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Puri. CRUT has been registered under the Companies Act,2013

In its earlier avatar, The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) was known as Bhubaneswar-Puri Transport Services (BPTS). The BPTS was the sole public transport provider for Bhubaneswar & Puri city. It was primarily covering Bhubaneswar city and was providing connectivity to other cities like Cuttack, Puri, Jatni and Khurda. It was running all the bus operation in partnership with PPP partner Dream Team Sahara (DTS). 

CRUT is now going through a phase of complete transformation where the services of CRUT are being revamped through transit infrastructure improvements (in terms of new fleets, depots, terminals, Bus Queue Shelters etc.), adoption of Gross Cost operation model and installation of Intelligent Public Transit System (IPTS). At the same time it is also undergoing institutional strengthening to manage demands of public transport in the smart city.

CRUT is in the process of operationalization of 300 no of buses and have selected multiple operators on Gross Cost Contract to operate its fleets of modern buses. This includes induction of 200 new buses and refurbishment of 100 old buses. These 300 buses will be operationalized in three phases. In Phase 1, 100 buses will start operating on 9 routes from 6th November. In Phase-2, 100 buses will be operated on 8 routes from 15th November. Thereafter, in Phase-3, 100 buses will be operated on 8 routes from 10th December onwards.

The start of Mo Bus City Bus services would be through a completely technology driven platform.
